Oneplus’s mission to dominate the mid-range smartphone arena with its Nord series continues with the latest release of the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G. At first look, Nord 2T might not look much different from Nord 2 because of the minor tweaks in the design. But with hefty upgrades in the processor and OS shows real promise. The device is equipped with the latest MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor, and Android 12 OS.
With the upgraded OS and hardware, Nord 2T easily leaves Nord 2 in the dust, but can it compete with other smartphones in its price range? Let’s find out by taking a closer look at the specification:

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Price in India:
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G came out with two color variants: Jade Fog & Gray Shadow. You can choose from 128GB storage and 256 GB storage with 8GB & 12GB RAM respectively.
RAM and Storage | Price |
8GB, 128GB | Rs. 28,999 |
12GB, 256GB | Rs. 33,999 |
The base variant with 8GM RAM provides a smooth user experience but the one with 12GB RAM is the perfect choice for a seamless gaming experience. So, if you are into gaming, go for the 12GB variant.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Design
OnePlus has subtly tweaked the design by incorporating the triple cameras into 2 slots instead of 3 separate slots as it was in the OnePlus Nord 2. This minor and sly adjustment, when combined with the matt look, gives OnePlus Nord 2T 5G a sleeker and premium look.
Other than the camera design, OnePlus has played safe by not making any other major adjustments to the design. The screen size, bezels, and handheld experience mostly feel the same as the Nord 2. The phone comes with a dual-SIM tray that supports up to two 5G nano-SIM cards, with dual-standby functionality.
The 3.5mm audio jack has been removed but the device does offer an alert slider. Nord 2T comes with an in-display finer sensor and a 90 Hz Fluid AMOLED display. The display could have been better as we have seen some devices offer 120 Hz in the same price range.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Software
The device runs Android 12, which provides a whole lot of the latest widgets but it takes away live wallpapers. Even though there are excellent static wallpapers available, it might be a minor setback for esthetic live wallpaper lovers.
Android 12 provides a rather new yet smooth user experience as compared to the previous OxygenOS 11.3. For connectivity and sensors, the device offers Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and GPS Glonass navigation systems. These specs are top-of-the-line for mid-range mobile devices, the only device that offers these specs at a similar price is OPPO Reno8.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Processor
Now comes the headlining feature and upgrade of the Nord 2T, which is the new MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor which comes with excellent thermals and an AnTuTu benchmark score averaging 630335. MediaTek processor uses HyperEngine gaming enhancements to provide the best gaming experience.
Nord 2T comes with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage which works smoothly with the MediaTek processor. The only thing that holds back the processor’s performance is the display. The device offers a 90 Hz display rate even though we have seen 120 Hz in similarly priced devices. The MediaTek processor is capable of supporting a 120 Hz display, but as OnePlus is using the same display panel for its devices for the past 3 years, it turns out to be a letdown.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Performance and Battery Life
The phone features Lithium Polymer 4500 mAh battery, and an upgraded charging tech backed with an 80W SuperVOOC instead of 65W, as provided in previous models. The UFS 3.1 storage enhances the application’s performance, making the user’s experience much smoother.
The Dimensity 1300 processor takes a toll on the 4500 mAh battery and might drain the battery a bit faster. But OnePlus makes up for it by providing the new 80W SuperVOOC charger, which can charge the device completely in 30 minutes. So, it becomes a trade-off, you’ll get better performance in exchange for a faster draining battery which will usually last a day. But you would be able to supplement that by using a faster charger.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Camera
The OnePlus Nord 2T comes with a triple rear camera, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 (OIS) primary camera, an 8MP Ultrawide Camera with 120-degree FOV, and a 2MP mono lens, which at the base is a Black and White filter that feeds depth information to the primary cam. The front or the selfie camera is a Sony IMX615 32MP lens.
OnePlus devices are known for their excellent camera qualities and this device doesn’t disappoint. By offering one of the best Sony sensors and AI Scene Enhancement software, the device clicks excellent daytime pictures. Although when it comes to low light or night photography, an inconsistent performance is seen. As the auto-enhancing AI in Nightscape mode over sharps the image and provides noisy photos. Heavy videography can also be done on this device as it does support 4K.
Final Verdict
The triple camera and MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor are this device’s USP and they do provide the device an upper hand. So, it can be said that OnePlus Nord 2T 5G proves to be a worthy successor to the OnePlus Nord 2.
If you are a casual smartphone user or gamer looking for a premium mid-range device, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G is a no-brainer. But if you are looking for a fully equipped gaming device, you might want to bat an eye on OPPO Reno8 5G or POCO F3 GT. You can buy this device from Amazon and Flipkart easily.
